Obama not concerned about Afghanistan

Apparently the Obama white house is not seriously concerned about the declining fortunes of American in the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan.  According to a fox news article:
Afghanistan is not in imminent danger of falling to the Taliban, President Obama's national security adviser said Sunday.
"I don't foresee the return of the Taliban. Afghanistan is not in imminent danger of falling," Jones said on CNN's "State of the Union."
"The Al Qaeda presence is very diminished," he said. "The maximum estimate is less than 100 operating in the country, no bases, no ability to launch attacks on either us or our allies."
Nothing to worry about in this situation right?  The White House's view is in stark contrast to the assessment of the situation stated by the top U.S. military officer present in Afghanistan.  Gen. Stanley McChrystal has called for a troop surge.  According to McChrystal the Taliban is gaining ground and absent some change in policy by the U.S. McChrystal fears the war in Afghanistan will be lost.  So which General should we believe the arm chair general or the one on the ground fighting the war?
